Beginner's Research Guide | locating books

If you are searching for books by a known title, by subject, or by keywords, you can connect to the libraries' online catalogs free on the Web.

Tip: The catalogs contain the titles of journals the library
subscribes to. If you are searching for articles by topic,
you should use a print index or database.

Online catalogs are comprised of records that describe books held by the library.

From each record, you can see that every title is described by one or more subject headings. To link to similar works you can use these headings. For example, the subject search Nursing care standards would retrieve all the records in the catalog assigned the heading Nursing Care Standards
