Reiss's images, while chiefly shot for labor unions, were not always necessarily about these organizations--they covered a broader spectrum of subjects. Many of his photo stories, even those shot at the behest of unions, documented subjects other than the unions themselves. Represented here are images ranging from people at work, to children in school, welfare recipients, civil rights leaders, and prominent politicians and celebrities such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy, and U Thant, and Leonard Bernstein.
