The SDS and CEWV sponsor the International Student and Faculty Strike to Bring the Troops Home from April 22-27.

NYU President Hester, commenting on the strike in an interview with the Journal observes: "I don’t think this [the student strike] really means anything" and that "if students are simply removing themselves from classes they’ve paid to go to, it seems to be a rather self-defeating thing." Hester also states that the University is not "organized to be an agent of a single opinion," and thus cannot take a stand on such public issues as the Vietnam War. Hester makes this statement in response to anti-war student pressure that NYU take an official anti-war stance.
