In February, the NYU Bookstore is struck over demands to lower prices, improve service, and form a cooperative. Bookstore workers join student pickets, bringing students and workers together for the first time. The strike further politicizes the campus.

The sit-in action meets with widespread criticism by the administration and participants receive letters of reprimand from the University.
