|On October 14, 1965, the War Resistor's League and the Committee to End the War in Vietnam (CEWV), featured in this Washington Square Journal photograph, lead student and faculty in protest against the war in Vietnam.
David McReynolds, a spokesman for the War Resistor's League, exclaims "I charge Johnson with Treason! We are dealing with an hysteric in the White House who has violated everything this country has stood for."
Dr. Conor Cruise O'Brien, another speaker at the rally and holder of the Albert Schweitzer Chair in the humanities at NYU, describes the war as "a horrible playground in which our military leaders can experiment."
