Moving Up Day Award Descriptions
Innovative Programming Award
In recognition of a student and/or student organization in their efforts to include LGBT issues in their programming, and/or has consistently offered innovative educational and social programming.
Community Advocacy Award
In recognition of efforts to provide services, resources, or information for the LGBT community to improve and/or create a supportive environment. In recognition of a student and/or student organization that has worked to unite the LGBT community either internally or with outside groups.
Dedication to Education
For their dedication to education, outreach, and advocacy concerning the LGBT community.
OUTstanding Leadership Award
For dedication as a student leader, enhancing the NYU queer community with determination, dedication and diligence.
OUTstanding Advocate for Community Health & Wellness Award
Presented to a student, club, staff or faculty member who has worked to advance LGBT health and wellness concerns.
Commitment to Queer Community Award
For dedication to the queer community by providing resources, services, and/or information that is of support or need. In recognition of individual or student group work that has advocated for a particular LGBT issue through programming or leadership.
Arnold Grossman Outstanding Faculty/Staff Service to LGBT Community Award
Presented to a staff or faculty member for outstanding services to the LGBTQ community.
Todd M. Smith Award
Given to individuals who are student-centered professional and who strive to directly support NYU LGBT students.
Bob Butler Award for Queer Advocacy
To an outstanding student-centered professional for their personal achievements, dedication to all NYU’s students and commitment to advocacy and support for all queer students. Award is meant for those individuals who have significantly advocated for the NYU LGBT community and have worked to establish policy, programs, initiatives on this community's behalf.

Moving Up Day is an annual celebration honoring NYU students, faculty, staff, organizations, and community members for outstanding work, leadership, programming, dedication, and contributions to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community of New York University and beyond. Moving Up Day also recognizes graduating LGBT and Ally students (both undergraduate and graduate).
