Kimmel Dance Studio

The Kimmel Center Dance Studio is located in room 606 in the Kimmel Center. The column-free studio is 20’ x 44’ and 1,387 square feet. It has a 27 foot long floor to ceiling mirror with fixed ballet barres and a wood-sprung floor. There are floor to ceiling windows facing east and south and natural light.

1.0 MANAGEMENT

The Kimmel Operations Office reserves the dance studio for dance clubs registered with the Office of Student Activities, dance and choreography students, and for some dance classes, and special rehearsals.
The Kimmel Operations Office is located in room 605 of the Kimmel Center for University Life and can be reached by phone at (212) 998-4900. E-mail should be addressed to kimmel.shorin@nyu.edu.

2.0 RESERVATIONS

New York University students, faculty, staff and alumni, conference participants and those attending scheduled events have access to the Kimmel Center. In addition, visitors who are guests of NYU students, faculty and staff have access to the Center.
2.1 Priority Bookings
NYU students who are dance and choreography majors receive priority bookings provided that their school has identified them as matriculated dance majors. Each of the academic dance programs is responsible for submitting a list of eligible students to Kimmel Operations. These students will be deemed eligible to make priority reservations, exclusively, during the first three weeks of classes. Priority bookings may be made for up to three, one hour practice sessions per month for the academic semester.
2.2 General Bookings
Student dance clubs registered with the Office of Student Activities are able to reserve space on a limited basis.
2.3 Reserving Dance Studio
Reservations can be made by e-mail or in-person at the Kimmel Operations Office. Priority bookings will be made during the first three weeks of classes. General bookings can be made commencing the fourth week of classes.

3.0 ACCESS TO DANCE STUDIO

3.1 To obtain access to the dance studio for the reserved time go to Kimmel Operations, room 605, sign in and exchange an NYU ID card for the key.
3.2 Kimmel Operations will check the rooms periodically throughout the day.

4.0 Equipment

|
A boom box for audio tape and CD play is available from the Kimmel Operations Office.

5.0 Dance Studio Policies

|
| 5.1 | All Kimmel Center Policies and Procedures apply except Section 4.0 (room reservation procedures).

| 5.2 | The Dance Studio is to be used for dance only.
|
| 5.3 | Only dance shoes are allowed in the studio. No street shoes are allowed.
|
| 5.4 | The Dance Studio is within the Shorin Center for Music Performance. It is very important to keep sound levels low.
|
| 5.5 | Smoking and eating are not allowed in the studio. Only water in enclosed containers is allowed and must not be left in studio.
|
| 5.6 | The Dance Studio reservation cannot be exchanged with other students or clubs.
|
| 5.7 | The door window is to be kept clear.
|
| 5.8 | Students are responsible for any damage to the room during their reservation.
|
| 5.9 | Students are to restore the studio at the end of their reservation.
|
| 5.10 | Students and faculty should not leave any personal belongings unattended in the Dance Studio. New York University and the Kimmel Center are not responsible for any loss or theft from the Dance Studio.

| 5.11 | Any violation of these policies may result in loss of privileges of the use of the Dance Studio.
|
| 5.12 | Kimmel Operations reserves the right to refuse and/or cancel any reservation at any time for any reason.

6.0 LOCKERS

| 6.1 | A limited number of small lockers are available for rental to students who are eligible to reserve the Dance Studio.

| 6.2 | A $10/semester fee is charged and students must provide their own locks.
|
| 6.3 | Lockers must be used for shoe and equipment storage only. Food, drink and other items are not allowed.
