Information about the NYU Data Service Studio, a collaborative effort of ITS and the NYU Libraries, has moved to the NYU Libraries website, at http://library.nyu.edu/dataservice.
The NYU Data Service Studio provides expert consultation and resources in research methods, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and statistical analysis for NYU students, faculty, and research staff.
The Data Service Studio also provides a variety of software for statistical, qualitative and GIS analysis of social science data, and staff conduct free lectures and workshops in the theory and programming of statistical packages. Geographic Information System (GIS) software enables maps and spatial data to be created, stored, and studied using personal computers and servers. Any file with addresses or a latitude/longitude field—Census data, for example—would greatly benefit from a spatial visualization or analysis.
