Dell recalls 4.1 million laptop batteries from 2004-2006

Dell and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission will be recalling more than 4 million laptop batteries for laptops sold between April 2004 and July 2006. Under rare conditions, it is possible for these batteries to overheat, which could pose a risk of fire. The laptops affected are the:
- Latitude
- Precision
- Inspiron
- XPS
Consumers who purchased one of the affected laptops between 2004-06 are advised by Dell to remove the battery immediately and to power the laptop via the AC adapter only. You will need to obtain a replacement battery through Dell's battery return program. More information regarding this can be found at :
