Be Wary of Spyware - Get FREE Anti-Spyware Software from ITS!

ITS is starting to see companies doing market research and
offering individuals special services or products in exchange
for divulging personal information or for allowing their online
browsing habits to be tracked by software known as Spyware.
In some cases, it isn't clear exactly what information is being
tracked or monitored, but it can include: login information to
online password protected applications; bank information;
your NYUHome login; a list of websites you've visited, as well
as other potentially sensitive data that you may provide over
the Web, such as address, phone number, or health
information. Before releasing this type of information to
companies such as MarketScore and others, you should
be aware of the implications: it puts you at risk of identity
theft and makes you vulnerable to other types of
exploitation.
To check your computer for Spyware and remove it, you can
use Ad-Aware, a program that is free to download within the
Software channel of NYUHome. Just go to the "Files" tab
within NYUHome and under the Windows section you will
see links for downloading Ad-Aware.
