ITS provides troubleshooting tips and answers to a variety of frequently asked questions about ResNet at www.nyu.edu/faq/resnet, and in the ITS Guide to Telephone Services and ResNet, provided to residence hall residents at move-in. You can also download a PDF version of the guide (Adobe Reader required).
Contact ITS Online or by Phone
For troubleshooting assistance or to request help with a problem, contact the ITS Client Services Center using the Ask ITS form on this website or in NYUHome, or by calling 1-212-998-3333. When you contact the CSC online, be sure to include the following information:
- A detailed description of the problem or question
- Your residence hall and room
- When the problem started
- Your computer's IP Address and MAC Address, if you know it
During the regular semester, ITS Client Services Center telephone and online support hours are:
Monday-Friday: 8:00 am-midnight
Saturday-Sunday: noon-midnight
In-Person Help
During the regular semester, specially trained ResNet experts are also available at the ITS Client Services Center, 10 Astor Place, 4th floor, during the following hours:
Monday-Friday: 9:00am-6:00pm
To Report a Network Problem
If you suspect there is a problem with the ResNet network, call the ITS Client Services Center at 1-212-998-3333 or send email to its.clientservices@nyu.edu. If possible, please have the following information ready:
- Date and time the problem occurred
- The error message that appeared
- Exact command entered (and/or) buttons clicked
- Source IP name and number
- Source machine type and software
- Target IP name and number
- Target machine type and software
