ITS provides troubleshooting tips and answers to a variety of frequently asked questions about ResNet in the ServiceLink knowledge base and in the ITS Guide to ResNet, provided to residence hall residents at move-in. You can also download system-specific PDF versions of the guide on the ITS Publications page (Adobe Reader required).

Contact ITS Online or By Phone

For troubleshooting assistance or to request help with a problem, contact the IT Service Desk using the Ask ITS contact form on this website or in NYUHome, sending an email to askits@nyu.edu, or by calling 1-212-998-3333. When using the online form or email, be sure to include the following information:

  • A detailed description of the problem or question
  • Your residence hall and room
  • When the problem started
  • Your computer's IP Address and MAC Address, if you know it

During the regular semester, IT Service Desk telephone and online support hours are:

Monday-Friday: 8am-midnight
Saturday-Sunday: noon-midnight

In-Person Help

During the regular semester, specially trained ResNet experts are also available at the IT Service Desk, 10 Astor Place, 4th floor, during the following hours:

Monday-Friday: 9am-6pm

To Report a Network Problem

If you suspect there is a problem with the ResNet network, contact ITS using the contact form, calling the IT Service Desk at 1-212-998-3333, or sending an email to askits@nyu.edu. If possible, please have the following information ready:

  • Date and time the problem occurred
  • The error message that appeared
  • Exact command entered (and/or) buttons clicked
  • Source IP name and number
  • Source machine type and software
  • Target IP name and number
  • Target machine type and software
