Research & Grant Planning

Researchers writing grant proposals are encouraged to contact ITS for information and assistance with technical aspects of proposals and plans. Services include assistance in planning for technical staff, hardware and software specifications, data storage and management, networking and facilities.

Technical Requirement Questions to Consider When Writing Research Grants

  • What are the space, power and air conditioning requirements of the computational resources?
  • Who will administer the system and what type of access will that person need to have to the machine?
  • What types of technical staff do I have and will I need to optimize my code?
  • Will I buy my own machine or am I interested in buying into a shared resource where I will have primary rights to use and access and additional unused cycles?
  • Are there any special networking needs, such as high speed or high capacity?
  • What connectivity exists in my building?
  • Does the grant require a data management plan?

ITS staff is available to provide information on existing resources and to help plan for future resource needs associated with sponsored research. For more information, send email to it.grants@nyu.edu.
