ITS Now Offers Free ESRI ArcGIS Software

Licensed copies of ArcGIS software are now available through ITS at no cost to NYU faculty and, by request, to students in their classes. ArcGIS and other ESRI products are the premier suite of Geographical Information System (GIS) tools used at NYU (see http://ESRI.com). Many other ESRI tools such as Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst are included in the DVD. For more information, see the Research Software page.

Statistical Computing

ITS Faculty Technology Services' staff provide expert consultation, training, and software resources for statistical research and analysis for NYU students, faculty, and research staff. GIS & Mapping

Geographic Information System (GIS) software enables maps and spatial data to be created, stored, and studied using personal computers and servers. Any file with addresses or a latitude/longitude field—Census data, for example—would greatly benefit from a spatial visualization or analysis.

ITS staff are available to assist researchers in the process of designing and publishing mapping applications for projects requiring visualization of spatial data. We provide access to and training in several GIS packages; see Research Software page for details, or send email to data.services@nyu.edu to request assistance.
