Bibliographic Management Software
NYU Libraries supports the use of RefWorks, ProCite, and EndNote. Use these citation management software programs to:

  • Organize your research
  • Import citations from electronic databases and catalogs
  • Format your references in dozens of standard styles (MLA, APA, etc.)
  • Insert footnotes, endnotes and a bibliography directly into your paper

RefWorks is free for NYU students and faculty, and the library provides classes about its use. For more information, see http://library.nyu.edu/bib/.


Blackboard
NYU Blackboard is an easy-to-use course management system offering many convenient ways of supplementing classroom learning, including: distributing course content, enhancing class communication, and conducting online assessment. It provides an interactive web environment accessible exclusively by the instructor(s) and registered students of the class. For more information, see www.nyu.edu/blackboard/.

To activate an NYU Blackboard site for your course:

  1. Make sure you have an active NYU NetID and NYUHome service.
  2. Go to www.nyu.edu/blackboard/request/.
  3. Log in using your NYU NetID and password.
  4. Complete the information in the request form, including Instructor ID and Course ID.
  5. Once activated, you and your students can access your new NYU Blackboard site(s) through the course link(s) in the Blackboard Classes channel within the Academics tab of NYUHome.

For help with NYU Blackboard, ITS provides online and in-person support and training. To browse online training and support resources, click the "More Help" link in the NYUHome Blackboard Classes channel, or go directly to the faculty FAQs at www.nyu.edu/its/faq/blackboard/faculty/. There are also training videos, a Getting Started Assistant, and an Instructor Tutorial at www.nyu.edu/blackboard/.

To schedule an in-person Blackboard training session for an individual or group, click the Email Blackboard Support link in the NYUHome Blackboard Classes channel, or go directly to the Blackboard Help Request form at www.nyu.edu/blackboard/help/. Make sure to select "Request Training" under "Type of Help Required."


Borrow Books
Your NYUCard is your library card. You can also borrow books from the libraries at New School University, the NY School of Interior Design, and Cooper Union. Find complete borrowing policies for Bobst Library at http://library.nyu.edu/services/borrow_renew.html.

Book Loan Periods at Bobst Library
Faculty – 120 days
Masters students – 60 days
PhD students – 120 days

Additional Borrowers
Designate your research or teaching assistants as additional borrowers who can check out and renew books, and place recalls on your behalf by presenting his or her valid NYUCard at Circulation. For more information and an online form to set this up, see http://library.nyu.edu/forms/ab.pdf.

Can't find a book that's supposed to be on the shelf? Try Quick Search.
If you can't find an item in the Bobst stacks even though the status of the book is "Available," fill out a "Quick Search" card (available throughout the library) and turn it in at the Bobst Circulation desk. A search will be conducted within 24 hours, and you will be notified of the results via email or telephone.
