NYU Webguide Online

Kristina Abeson

The NYU Webguide (www.nyu.edu/webguide) is written for anyone at NYU who wants to create pages on the World Wide Web. Whether you want to create a site for your class, your student organization, an NYU department, or even for personal purposes, you are welcome to publish on NYU Web. The Webguide can point you in the right direction when you start to create your NYU website, and can answer more questions as you become a web expert.

We want everyone at NYU to feel comfortable putting together their websites. Sometimes just getting more information about how to begin this process can serve as the incentive for the project's completion. Instructions on how to begin can be found in the Getting Started section. Just click on the link for the type of website you're creating to find out how to reserve your spot on NYU Web.

The Logos, Buttons and Backgrounds section has NYU logos and buttons that you can download and use on your official NYU Web page. This section will be growing as the design for the new NYU home page develops.

The FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) and Tutorials sections answer many questions about functionality on your NYU Web pages. Answers to questions about uploading graphics, adding counters, getting statistics and installing cgi scripts can be found here. The Tutorials section includes quick lessons on restricting access to your www.nyu.edu pages, using JavaScript rollovers on your pages, and more.

The NYU Web Policy section outlines the guidelines by which the NYU community can use NYU Web. These guidelines as well as the Computer and Network User Policy are important for all members of the NYU Web community.

The NYU Webguide has answers to many of the questions that we answer here at webmaster@nyu.edu. Please take a moment to check it out, and write us with additional suggestions. The Webguide is always under construction, like most web sites, so we welcome your comments.[ C ]
