Connect Fall 1996:  NYU WEB

Webmasters Mailing List

Kristina Abeson

NYU Web (http://www.nyu.edu) is made up of thousands of pages, ranging from departmental and faculty information to downloadable applications for admissions and financial aid. Anyone at NYU may have a place on NYU Web, and behind each page there is a person to whom we refer as a Web contributor. At the time of this writing, there are more than 200 Web contributors associated with www.nyu.edu .

Coordinating NYU Web's large and continually growing number of Web sites has just become a lot easier with the formation of the Webmasters Mailing List. We've enrolled all current contributors, and we will add new Web contributors to the list when we set up their URL.

This mailing list should be a convenient and effective way for us to contact all Web contributors, and for Web contributors to communicate information of general interest to each other. It will not be a discussion group, but a highly selective, low-volume moderated list that we hope will provide a useful service to the NYU Web community. So far the list has informed everyone that we've been looking for Web searching software and of the recent changes in the Bobst Library Web site (http://www.nyu.edu/library/bobst). We also intend to use it, for example, to announce planned downtimes and other service interruptions.

If you feel you've been overlooked for subscription to the Webmasters List, please send e-mail to us at webmaster@nyu.edu to let us know. Please include your full name and the URL you maintain. [ C ]
