Arts Technology Group Adds New Digital Video Systems

by Philip Galanter

The ACF Arts Technology Group has added two new high-end digital video systems for use by faculty and advanced students from programs in the arts. An Avid Videocomposer system is available in the Videographics Room; it permits broadcast-quality nonlinear editing and effects, as well as the import of files such as Alias 3D renderings.

A Radius Telecast system is available in the Innovation Center, and provides broadcast-quality video for applications such as Adobe Premiere, AfterEffects, and Radius VideoFusion. In addition, Radius Telecast files are compatible with the three Radius systems in the Student Studio.

Both systems use Betacam SP tapes as an analog tape format for input and output, although lower- quality formats such as Hi-8, S-VHS, and VHS are also supported. Both systems control tape decks for digitization and print-to-video functions, and support batch digitization and EDL export.

If you are a faculty member from a program in the arts and are interested in using these systems, please contact me by e-mail or phone at 998-3041. [ C ]
