Access to and use of networking resources at New York University (NYU) are privileges extended to members of the NYU Community.
Limitations
- Your residence hall connection is for the use of the account holder or account holders in the case of roommates. Under no circumstance will you allow other individuals to access NYU-NET via your account. Furthermore, you must agree that you will not provide to others network access services residing on your computer system via your residence hall connection. You are not to give out accounts on your computer via this connection to NYU's network. Any computer connected via a residence hall is for client use only.
- NYU ResNet, like all of NYU-NET, is bound by the ITS Network Operating Principles. Specifically, you cannot install wireless or wired routers (Airport Base Stations, Linksys, etc.), hardware firewalls, or any other type of hardware on the network.
- You are not to run any services (i.e., FTP services, listservers, publish MP3s using Napster, etc., publish files via generic file services, etc.) via this residence hall connection except http servers.
- This connection is not for commercial use (including, but not limited to nonprofit services that are not University sponsored).
- The following policies also apply to residence hall connections:
By completing your ResNet registration application you have agreed to these limitations in addition to those outlined in the above-referenced policies.
