did you know?
- It is possible to use a variety of PDAs and handheld devices to access NYU resources, but ITS' support for PDAs is currently limited to Blackberry, Treo, and iPhone. If you own a different brand, it may be possible to use portions of these instructions to configure your PDA (details will vary). Check back for additional support in the future.
- NYU-issued PDAs and handheld devices are eligible to sync with Meeting Maker; non-NYU devices may sync with Meeting Maker, provided the department has purchased a license.
ITS provides online and phone support for using your Blackberry, Treo, or iPhone with NYU enterprise technology services. The guides listed here provide step-by-step setup and use instructions, and the overview below shows which NYU services are available on your PDA, with quick links to brief how-to instructions.
If you are an NYU staff or faculty member, your department or program may participate in a service which provides for on-site and in-person PDA support. Click for more information.
Step-by-Step Guides
The guides linked to below begin with an introductory look at your PDA, then lead you through initial out-of-the-box setup. They also show you how to configure your PDA to check and send NYU email, synchronize with your desktop address book, browse the Web, and use Meeting Maker. Finally, they provide basic security and troubleshooting information.
Important Note: Because instructions can vary from device to device and among wireless carriers (AT&T, Nextel, Verizon, etc.), it's important that you rely on the product- and network-specific instructions that come with your device and are given to you by the carrier you chose. ITS' guides are intended only to provide basic information about using your PDA at NYU, and may not reflect the most recent information from your wireless carrier and/or device manufacturer.
