did you know?
- Wired laptop access was previously known as "Bobst Roaming."
- If you are registered for ResNet, or registered your laptop using the NYU-NET Computer Registration System anytime after August 2006, you are automatically registered for wired laptop access.
- If you don't need to connect to the Internet or NYU-NET, you can plug your computer in at Bobst without registering with ITS.
- Bobst Library lends laptops with software applications and network connectivity for use in Bobst only. For more information, see the Libraries website.
Bobst Library and Information Technology Services have joined together to provide wired laptop connections to NYU-NET from the library. If you are a current faculty or staff member, or a student in a degree or diploma program, you can register to plug your laptop into one of the network ports located in designated laptop areas in Bobst Library. Note that you can also configure your laptop to connect throughout Bobst using NYURoam wireless.
Specially designated laptop areas are located on floors 2, 4 through 10, and on Lower Level 2 of Bobst Library. To connect to NYU-NET at these ports, your laptop must be registered with ITS. This enables your computer to obtain a network address and provides a layer of security for NYU-NET and for the computers connected to it. A proxy server on NYU-NET provides additional security when accessing the Internet. The proxy server changes how some of the networking applications work.
Important Note
If you are registered for ResNet, or have registered your laptop using the NYU-NET Computer Registration System anytime after August 2006, you are automatically registered for wired laptop access and YOU DO NOT NEED TO FILL OUT THE APPLICATION FORM. Simply follow the configuration instructions linked below to connect at Bobst Library.
