  1. Power on the slide scanner
  2. Power on the computerscanning slides

Part II : Preparing the slides :

  1. Orient all slides horizontally.
  2. Count the slides (Maximum 50).
  3. Place them in the front spring.
  4. Load bay of the slide scanner.

Part III : Preparing the software :

  1. Open Nikon Scan software in the applications.
  2. Set the dpi to the appropriate resolution:

    a) For the web, choose 72dpi
    b) For printing, choose at least 300dpi.
Also, designate the "output size" to be whatever size you want the image to appear as on-screen.

Part IV : Scanning :
  1. Under Nikon scan on the menu bar select "slide feeder".
  2. Enter the number of slides you are scanning.
  3. A window will prompt you to select a destination for the files.
  4. Create a new folder on the hard drive for the files. Also enter a prefix for the files. They will be saved to the created folder by this name. For example, if "Frame" were entered as the prefix, then the files would be saved as "Frame_oo1", "Frame_002", etc.

After this step, the machine will begin feeding your slides and saving the images in your folder. Supervision is recommended, however, as the scanner is prone to jamming by pulling more than one slide at a time. In this event a " serious error" message will appear. To resolve this, simply click "Okay". Locate the button on the user interface that has a slide and an arrow. This will feed the jammed slides out. Simply replace them in the queue to be re-scanned.
