How to import DV and export edited video as DV or Quicktime movies using Final Cut Pro

Part I : Capturing from DV deck :

  1. Go to file and scroll down to log and capture.finalcut
  2. In "Log and Capture" window click "Play" using the VCR-type controls under the preview window.
  3. In order to capture you can press "Capture Now" - which does an immediate capture — or you can log clips to be captured based on time code and use the Batch Capture.
  4. Drag captured movie clip into either the browser box on left or into the timeline. You will be prompted to save and title the clip.
  5. Create your movie using the Timeline window.

Part II : Inputting Quicktime files :

  1. Under file menu select input/ file.
  2. Choose settings appropriate to Quicktime Movie inspect the video and audio compression settings.


Part III : Outputting movie as a Quicktime movie file :

  1. Choose file / export / Quicktime.
  2. Choose settings appropriate to Quicktime Movie inspect the video and audio compression settings.

Part IV : Outputting to DV :

  1. Choose sequence and scroll down to render all.
  2. Choose file menu and scroll to Print to Video.
  3. Choose options if desired.
  4. Make sure the DV deck input source reads DV in, then press OK - a progress bar will then appear.
  5. You will be prompted to press record on the DV deck, then press OK to play the movie and record it to DV. Note you must cue the DV tape prior to pressing OK.
