eReports Version 2.0, Coming Aug. 21 to the School of Medicine:
Frequently Asked Questions

Overview

When will the upgrade to eReports 2.0 take place?

The School of Medicine eReports will be upgraded to version 2.0 on August 21.

What web address should I use to access eReports after the upgrade?

Beginning August 21, you will have the option of accessing eReports via the eReports link on the School of Medicine Finance portal (www.med.nyu.edu/finance/) or through NYUHome (home.nyu.edu).

What ID and password should I use when logging in to eReports after the upgrade?

Beginning August 21, when the upgrade is in place, you will use your NYU NetID and NYUHome password to log in to eReports (see next FAQ for more). As of that date, the password with which you currently log in to eReports (the technical term for this is "Webprod" password) will no longer give you access to eReports.

What simple steps will I need to take before I can access eReports 2.0?

At the Washington Square campus, your Medical Center Kerberos ID is referred to as your NetID. In order to access eReports 2.0, you will need to have activated your NetID for use with Washington Square-based applications, and set your NYUHome password. We recommend that you do this between Aug. 8 and the August 21 upgrade date, if you haven't already done so. Around Aug. 8, the SOM Financial Systems Group will send you an email containing your Kerberos ID and other information that you will need to complete this simple five-minute process -- including your University ID and your NetID activation status. Once you have this information, click for detailed instructions on activating your NetID and setting your NYUHome password.

What is the reason for the upgrade and the change in web location and login?

The upgrade streamlines access to eReports and other Washington Square-based administrative applications, enables some key performance and security improvements, and provides a single point of access for these applications.

Activating My Kerberos ID for Use with Washington Square Applications, Setting My NYUHome Password

When should I activate my NYU NetID and set my NYUHome password?

As a School of Medicine eReports user, you may not have already activated your NetID for use with Washington Square-based applications, and set your NYUHome password. (At Washington Square, your Medical Center Kerberos ID is referred to as your NetID.) If this is the case, we recommend that you do this between Aug. 8 and the August 21 upgrade date. Around Aug. 8, the SOM Financial Systems Group will send you an email containing your Kerberos ID and other information that you will need to complete this simple, quick process -- including your University ID and your NetID activation status -- along with SOM-customized instructions.

How do I activate my Kerberos ID for use with Washington Square applications, and set my NYUHome password?

After Aug. 8, when you have received the information that you'll need in order to activate your NetID and set your NYUHome password (see previous FAQ), you'll simply go to the School of Medicine Finance page (http://med.nyu.edu/finance/) and click the Activate Your NYU NetID link. Click for detailed instructions on activating your NetID and and setting your NYUHome password. (Alternatively, you can link directly to the ITS Start page at http://start.nyu.edu/.) Completing this simple process will take perhaps five minutes. Hint: Always use lower case letters when typing your NetID or Kerberos ID.

What is a NetID? NYUHome? My University ID?

NetIDs are the Washington Square equivalent of the School of Medicine Kerberos IDs. Your NetID is a unique network identifier that, together with a password, can be used to access resources and services. At Washington Square, your Kerberos ID is referred to as your NetID. You will soon receive complete instructions on activating your Kerberos ID for use with Washington Square-based applications, like eReports 2.0.

NYUHome (http://home.nyu.edu/) is a customizable portal to many web-based services and tools used by NYU faculty, students, and staff at the Washington Square, Dental and Global campuses. NYUHome is organized in "tabs". Beginning Aug. 21, you will have the option of logging in to eReports 2.0 via the the School of Medicine Finance site (http://med.nyu.edu/finance/) or the NYUHome WORK tab.

Your University ID is a unique identifying number assigned by the university to each member of the community. Its form is a capital letter followed by 8 digits, for example, N12345678.

I've already activated my NetID and set my NYUHome password. Do I need to do anything more to prepare for the upgrade?

If you have already activated your NetID and set your NYUHome password, then you are ready for the new access and login you will need to use beginning August 21.

I'm not sure whether I've ever activated my NetID and set my password. What should I do?

No need to be concerned. Around Aug. 8, the SOM Financial Systems Group will send you an email providing your Kerberos ID, your University ID, and your current NetID activation status -- that is, whether or not you have ever activated your NetID.

What if I've forgotten my NYUHome password?

If you've already activated your NetID and set your NYUHome password, but you don't remember the NYUHome password that you set, simply go to the ITS Start page (http://start.nyu.edu/), enter your NetID, and click Start. On the next screen, click the "Continue" button, which will walk you through the steps of validating your identity and requesting a reminder of your password. (Alternatively, you can access the ITS Start page by clicking the Activate My NYU NetID link on the SOM Finance portal, http://med.nyu.edu/finance/.)

When will my newly created NYUHome password expire?

Your new password will expire approximately one year after you originally created it. You will receive an email reminder from ITS several weeks before it is due to expire.
