Andreas Koller received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Zurich. He is a research fellow at the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) and at New York University’s Institute for Public Knowledge (IPK). He works on projects in the SSRC’s Public Sphere program area and coordinates the Tilly Fund for Social Science History. He is the editor of the Public Sphere Guide and of the related online essay forum on Transformations of the Public Sphere, co-sponsored by the SSRC and IPK, creating a map of this fragmented interdisciplinary field of study and a resource for the renewal of the public sphere. His research interests include social and political theory, pragmatism, comparative historical sociology, public communication, democratization and social solidarities. His work focuses on the sociology of the public sphere. Among other things, he is currently editing a special issue of Social Science History on “The Public Sphere and Comparative-Historical Research.”
