Jennifer E. Telesca is a doctoral student at the Institute for Law & Society at New York University. She serves as a research assistant for the Institute for Public Knowledge (IPK) at NYU, where she participates in research and programming on human rights and humanitarian action. Research interests include legal anthropology and the media representations of human rights, humanitarianism, and development. Her dissertation focuses on how oceans are governed, and the way publics perceive of and mobilize in response to emergencies at sea. Prior to joining NYU, she graduated Phi Beta Kappa with departmental honors in history from the University of Richmond. She holds with distinction a Master of Arts in Cultural Anthropology and a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies from the University of Connecticut (Storrs).
