A Conversation between Emily Martin and Khary Jones Image

This session will feature a conversation between Emily Martin and Khary Jones, as well as a screening of the short film, HUG, an Official Selection at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

Khary Jones was born and raised in Camden, New Jersey. He is currently completing his MFA in film directing at Columbia University. He earned a BA in English from Morehouse College and an MA, also in English, from Columbia University and worked for three years as the editor of an academic journal. He teaches narrative filmmaking at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. HUG is his second film, following Chavez in 2006.

Emily Martin is Professor of Anthropology at New York University, and is affiliated with the Institute for the History of the Production of Knowledge, and the Department of Bioethics. Prof. Martin's research interests include the anthropology of science and power; religion; ideology; politics; models and explanations in social anthropology; political economy of health; gender; China; and the U.S.
