InterCEP Associate Director Presents at University of Alabama-Birmingham

On December 28, 2007, Dr. Ziad Kazzi, MD, Co- Director of the Center for Emerging Infections and Emergency Preparedness (CEIEP) at the University of Alabama-Birmingham hosted InterCEP Associate Director, Dr. Matt Statler, for an informational seminar focused on the emerging voluntary private sector preparedness certification program. Participants included representatives from the Alabama Department of Public Health, Samford University, Birmingham Southern College, Southern Nuclear, and the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Following an overview of the relevant legislation, participants engaged in an hour-long discussion of the status of emergency and disaster preparedness in Alabama and across the Southeast, including the possible impacts of business preparedness certification within the regional context.
