InterCEP Holds Exercise on Disaster Messaging with FEMA

November 2007 - NYU's InterCEP and FEMA convened a table top exercise, "Disaster Public Information Table Top Discussion." The exercise included key government and NGO representatives from the New York and New Jersey metropolitan area to discuss a unified intergovernmental effort to most effectively provide disaster information to the public.
Key players in federal, state and local government participated including operational and communications disaster experts, executive offices of governors (including press and senior staff); private sector communication leaders and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The exercise focused on governmental disaster operations for response and recovery, improving understanding of roles, prioritize unified message based on these operations, and share strategies to get the word out to the public on disaster public information.
