David M. Walker, Comptroller General of the United States and head of the Government Accountability Office (GAO) is convening a targeted forum of approximately 30 individuals focusing on Strengthening the Use of Risk Management in Homeland Security. The forum is designed to explore effective risk management practices used by leading organizations, identify challenges faced by federal agencies in adopting and implementing a risk-based approach, and near- and long-term actions to address identified challenges. The forum will take place in October at GAO headquarters in Washington, D.C. According to the GAO, the forum is intended to foster discussion with a select group of national risk management experts. Invitees include representatives from federal agencies, state and local government officials, private sector executives, leading academics and think tank representatives, and other selected experts. The Comptroller General will be moderating the discussion. I am honored to have been invited to participate in addressing this critical strategy for homeland security going forward, remarked InterCEP Director, Bill Raisch.
