September 2007 - InterCEP released its proceedings of its annual forum, the International Public-Private Preparedness Summit, held at New York University's campus in Florence, Italy on May 3 and 4, 2007. This event assembled a unique gathering of senior public sector and private sector leaders which included representation from 10 counties and three continents, various industries and multi-jurisdictional governmental bodies.
The 2007 Summit welcomed the personal and respective organizational insights and participation from the following keynote speakers: UN Under- Secretary General Sir David Veness; U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Private Sector Office, Assistant Secretary Al Martinez-Fonts; London Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner and Security Chief for the London Olympics Tarique Gaffur; and Microsoft International Security Manager Michael Foynes.
The informal roundtable format addressed key issues and obstacles, and identified potential solutions, to public and private sectors concerns in global security and emergency preparedness.
InterCEP looks forward to working throughout the year on the key issues targeted by the Global Roundtable members during the 2007 Summit, and to reconvene on these important topics at InterCEP's 2008 International Public-Private Preparedness Summit to be held May 29-30, 2008.
