InterCEP Hosts Workshop for the International Standards Organization
June 24, 2006 4:49 PM
In April 2006, the International Center for Enterprise Preparedness (InterCEP) hosted the International Workshop Agreement (IWA) at NYU’s La Pietra conference center in Florence, Italy. At the request of the International Standards Organization (ISO), InterCEP successfully brought together public and private sector officials to advance international cooperation in emergency preparedness.
More than seventy emergency management and business continuity professionals from sixteen countries around the world gathered for the IWA meeting on Emergency Preparedness (April 24-26). The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) served as the lead national body of the ISO for the workshop to respond to the standards community's call for an international deliverable in the area of emergency preparedness.
The Center and ANSI continue to partner in advancing preparedness standards. InterCEP is committed to advancing private sector readiness through integration of its efforts with corporate, governmental and other organizational stakeholders.
InterCEP also hosted the International Public-Private Preparedness Summit (April 27-28) to discuss ways in which public and private sectors can share lessons learned, preparations for pandemics and catastrophes, and ways in which this vital field can move forward in saving lives and enterprise continuity in the wake of an emergency event.
