    To inform both government activity and that of the ultimate accreditation body, InterCEP will start to convene targeted groups of key stakeholders to obtain their input on the accreditation and certification process and the integration of key business incentives. The majority of these topically focused forums will be held in advance of a general National Roundtable to be held at NYU in November. Each of these advance forums will address a different incentive area or business segment. The forums will include both virtual and onsite formats to make them more accessible to key stakeholders. The forums will seek to capture key issues and preliminarily develop potential strategies to facilitate bottom-line benefits and incentives through the certification program. They may also form the foundation for ongoing advisory task groups in targeted areas.

  • Bringing Business Resources to Disaster: New Standard Informs NIMS & FEMA Efforts

    Businesses can provide significant resource support to disaster operations. FEMA is initializing a new effort to provide greater guidance for effective resource management under the National Incident Management System (NIMS). A standard developed by InterCEP with the input of dozens of national and international organizations is serving as the primary input for how business resources should be incorporated in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. The recommended product "Mobilizing Corporate Resources to Disaster" incorporated lessons learned from the organizations responding to the recent Tsunami in Southeast Asia, Hurricane Katrina and other events. InterCEP Director Bill Raisch is participating on the national taskforce headed by FEMA.

  • InterCEP Working with Insurance Industry to Develop a Common Assessment Methodology to Reward Preparedness in Underwriting

    InterCEP is working with the insurance industry on acknowledging preparedness in the underwriting of business insurance. Generally, the insurance industry is positively disposed to acknowledging preparedness efforts by corporations and giving them credit for preparedness in determining ultimate insurance premiums and policy terms (deductibles, etc.). This has been validated through a diversity of InterCEP Roundtables and interviews. However, what is often lacking is a simple way for insurance firms to assess that a firm has in fact prepared for emergencies. You cannot reward preparedness without first confirming that it exists.

    October 2006 -- The International Center for Enterprise Preparedness held the National Roundtable on Insurance and Corporate Preparedness. The goal of the multi-stakeholder forum was to examine and clarify the connection between business preparedness efforts and benefits in insurance including premium pricing and terms. This Roundtable brought together insurance underwriters, a former state insurance commissioner, representatives from key insurance industry associations, researchers, and federal government officials.

  • Low-Cost Preparedness Efforts Significantly Mitigate Loss: An InterCEP Case Study
