Staff HandbookCommutation Expense Reimbursement AccountsThe Commutation Expense Reimbursement Account (CERA) will allow you to reduce your taxable salary to assist you in covering the cost of your commutation expenses to and from your NYU work site. There are two types of accounts:
All full-time regular employees are eligible to place pre-tax dollars into a mass transit and/or parking account and then reimburse themselves for the cost of commuting to and from an NYU work-site. The maximum you can contribute to the CERA changes annually in accordance with government regulations. For 2005, the CERA contribution limit for mass transit is $1260 ($105/mo) for mass transit and $2400 for parking. ($200/mo) for parking.
