Problem-Solving

Job Problems

If a job problem arises, your supervisor should be the first person you consult since he or she is responsible for your work and is probably most able to help you resolve the situation. If you do not arrive at a solution after meeting with your supervisor, you may want to discuss the problem with someone else. Here are some options:

  • Your Human Resources Representative.
  • An employee relations specialist in the Human Resources Division. A confidential appointment can be arranged by calling (212) 998-1242.
  • Contact NYU's Employee Assistance Program, Carebridge Life Resource by calling 800-437-0911.
  • If you are a new employee, you may wish to contact the Employment Office recruiter who referred you to your current job.

If you wish to file a formal grievance, you may do so by following the grievance procedures set forth in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the University and the United Staff Association of NYU, Local 3882, NYSUT, AFT, AFL-CIO.
