Salary Adjustments

An in-grade salary adjustment is a salary increase without a change in grade and can be requested for employees for one of the following reasons:

  • Market (external equity) adjustments are used to align pay with the external market.
  • Internal equity adjustments may be used to address salary inequities among individuals who are functioning in like positions that require similar skills, responsibilities and experience.

Salary guidelines for within-grade salary adjustments vary depending on the reason for the request. The Compensation Office determines appropriate amounts.
