Employment Policy
The University seeks the most talented, best qualified candidates it can find for each vacancy. In seeking candidates, it is the University's policy to recruit affirmatively, ensuring that information about employment opportunities reaches the broadest range of qualified people. It is also NYU's policy to encourage promotion from within and to offer employees opportunities to seek career advancement.
Mission of the Employment Office
All University employment policies are administered by the NYU Employment Office. The mission of the Employment Office is to provide staffing, recruitment and related services and resources to managers in order to attract, hire and retain the best talent, and to provide guidance and support to internal and external job applicants in the fulfillment of their career development goals. Our services include:
- Managing the University electronic application system: MATCH (Managing Applications Through Computerized Help), as well as assisting employees and managers in utilizing MATCH
- Posting all staff vacancies on HR website and placing all non-faculty recruitment advertising
- Assisting and advising hiring managers and HR Officers with developing and executing recruitment strategies, insuring that recruitment meets affirmative action commitments
- Screening, interviewing and referring candidates to hiring managers
- Advising managers and HR Reps on reference checking and overseeing all background checking
- Assisting and advising employees on career planning and seeking transfer/promotion opportunities
- Providing training to managers on interviewing and selection and to employees on career development, including interviewing and resume preparation
- Developing and facilitating new hire orientation programs
- Managing temporary staffing agencies and monitoring use of agencies by units, insuring quality and compliance with policies
