Reception Desk

Location: Near main entrance.

Access: Monday-Friday, 9am to 8pm; Saturday and Sunday 10am- 6pm. (Holiday hours may vary).

Desk services:

  • Information about the residence hall, procedures, services, and activities.
  • Check in and check out.
  • Maintenance Requests.
  • Key return and problems.
  • Mail and package pick up.
  • Vacuum cleaners loans.
  • Game and Movie rentals.

Safety and Security

Safety and security are everyone's responsibility (link to Students section: Staff Services Offered), but this residence also has specific building security procedures:

  • NYU Public Safety Services officers on duty 24 hours a day.
  • Protection telephone: 212/992-9905.
  • All residents must present their NYU ID cards on entry.
  • All guests must be signed in and out by their resident host and leave picture ID at the guard station.

Room Features

  • Apartment-style residence hall with bath, kitchen, and dining area in each unit.

  • All floors coed; single sex in rooms, suites, and apartments.

Building/Community Features

  • TV/game room, study lounge, pool and Ping-Pong area.
  • One block to sports center at Palladium.
  • Effective Fall 2005 students will not have access to room terraces and balconies.
  • Laundry room in basement.

Room and suite types

  • 2-3 bedroom suites for 3-6 students.
  • smaller 2-3 bedrooms for 3-6 students suites.

  • single rooms, all in multi-room suites or apartments.

Kitchen

  • Kitchen with refrigerator, stove, oven, and sink.

  • Residents provide their own cookware, dishes, and supplies.

Bath

Full bathroom with tub/shower in each suite.

Furnishings

  • Long (80 inch) twin beds, desk, dresser, and wastebasket for each resident.
  • Dining table and chairs in common area.
  • Windows have blinds.
  • Hard floors in student rooms and suites.

Telephone

  • NYU telephone service is provided at no additional charge. This includes unlimited local calling, call waiting and caller-id. Free voice mail is provided upon request. Your telephone number is included with your room assignment, and the telephone service is available when you check in. There is one telephone jack per person sharing one telephone line in each bedroom. Residents provide their own telephones.
  • NYU long distance service information will be mailed to your home address before school begins or provided at check-in. Internet connections

Ethernet connections to NYUNet and the Internet for each resident are provided in each bedroom. Connection information will be mailed with your room assignment before you arrive, will be available at check-in, or may be accessed at www.nyu.edu/resnet. Residents provide their own computers with Ethernet cards, cables, and software.

Cable TV

NYU Cable TV service is provided, with one cable connection per bedroom, for access to national cable networks and University programming. Residents provide their own televisions and connecting cables.

Dining Services

One block from Palladium dining room and café. Two blocks from the Third North dining room.

Maintenance Concerns

Report maintenance concerns to the residence hall reception desk. Service Requests should be submitted at the first sign of a problem. If there is damage in your room, do not repair it yourself. Skilled repair personnel will fix it for you. Preventative maintenance and routine repairs are done without charge, though you will be billed for any damage caused by your negligence or actions. Please note: The maintenance request system is not online. All maintenance requests should be done at the front desk.

Emergency repairs include major leaks and flooding, inoperative door locks, and any problem that endangers safety or property. In case of an emergency, contact the reception desk or any member of the residence hall staff immediately.

Shipping packages before arrival: Do not send boxes or packages for arrival at your residence hall before you check in, you may pick them up, at the front desk, the same day a package notice is placed in your mail box.
