Hello.  My name is Heather Cohen and I am the Community Development Educator (CDE) for the energetic and engaging 7A Partnership community, located in the heart of East Village.  Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, I completed my undergraduate degree in Political Science at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.  Before going on for my Master’s, I worked in both politics and the non-profit field.  In 2006, I received my M.Ed. in Higher Education from North Carolina State University.  I’m lucky enough to live in Alumni with my partner Jay and our dog Cady, who is very receptive to attention from strangers.  When not working, you can typically find me working out, reading, traveling, or restaurant hopping throughout the city.
Over the last year I’ve had the amazing responsibility of working with The 7A Partnership Community, which includes both 7th St. and Alumni.  Both our ACDE Imani and I, along with our excellent student staff, are committed to offering residents a broad range of programming, support, and ways to engage.  If you are a resident of this community, we hope you’ll take the opportunity to shape it in a positive way that makes it feel like home to you, and your peers.  We strive to make it an interactive, responsive, and fun environment where you can learn and form connections that will live long past our walls.
Feel free to stop by our office on the first floor of Alumni to engage us on these issues or any concerns you might have, and welcome to your new home with the 7A Partnership!

Greetings! My name is Imani Movva and I am honored to be the new ACDE of Alumni and 7th street. I recently moved from New Jersey (I see that some of you refer to it as Dirty Jerzy, but I assure you there are at least a couple of clean parts...) I graduated from Richard Stockton College with dual B.A. degrees in Political Science and Criminal Justice and minored in Theatre and African American Studies. I am currently pursuing my MSW at NYU. My passions are: God, Family, friends, and human rights. I am… independent, but my friends are my world. Never afraid to tell someone how much they mean to me. Traveled, but not enough. Writer. non-profit child advocate. Loyal friend. Not afraid of dying, but petrified of not truly living. Compassionate. I secretly love sad movies and sad songs. I’m a pursuing activist. I was a vegetarian for years. Sometimes conservative and shy, but liberal at heart. I try not to regret anything I do, because at one time, I wanted it. My heart hurts most when I see children hurting or abused. I love road trips and pizza. stubborn. clumsy. sarcastic. empathetic.….everyday, I push myself to be better - not better than others - that is irrelevant...but better than myself. I am very excited to meet all of you and I hope to help you in way that I can. stay positive and be kind, imani
