Unlike a university whose campus is separated by gates or walls, NYU is very much in and of New York City. Nothing isolates the experiences at NYU from the outside world - our buildings and facilities are another part of a busy metropolis with which we share the streets, sidewalks, parks, and trains. It's nearly impossible to tell where the city begins and the University ends.
While studying and living in New York City is a unique and exciting experience, it does present several significant challenges, especially on move-in day. Please refer to the information provided below to prepare for your arrival
Important Gramercy Green Check in Information
Gramercy Green: One of the attractive features about NYU's newest Residence Hall is its location and the strong community that it is a part of. Being members of a neighborhood community is what makes attending NYU exciting and unique. It can also present unforeseen challenges.
One of those challenges, for fall 2008, neighborhood street fairs have been scheduled for:
- Saturday August 23rd - Gramercy Park Neighborhood Festival - (on 3rd Ave. between 14th and 23rd St.)
- Sunday August 24th - Third Avenue Merchandise Fair - (on 3rd Ave. between 14th and 23rd St.).
NO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC will be able to approach Gramercy Green on Saturday August 23rd or Sunday August 24th.
Fall classes begin Tuesday September 2nd. We are strongly recommending that you arrive after August 24th, however we will permit residents of Gramercy Green to check in on Friday August 22nd (Front Desk Hours are 9:00 am-8:00 pm). EARLIER CHECK-IN IS NOT POSSIBLE.
