What is the difference between Residential Education and Housing and which do I go to?The Department of Residential Education and Department of Housing work together and with other university offices to collaboratively offer the best possible on-campus living experience for our students. Residential Education focuses on: Programming, Community Development, Student Conduct, Outside of the Classroom Education, and general development of students' identities and transition into adulthood. The Department of Housing is responsible for the application, room assignments and room change processes, charge adjustments, and adherence to the terms and conditions of the housing license. |

What types of Residence Halls are offered?NYU offers traditional and apartment style residence halls. Traditional halls offer double and triple rooms and suite arrangements. Most suites have their own bathroom. Apartment style suites provide a kitchen unit and bathroom. Incoming freshmen to the University are assigned to First Year Residential Experience (FYRE) residence halls located in the Washington Square and Union Square area. |

Where are the Residence Halls located?NYU provides several options for residence hall living throughout Manhattan. Our properties extend from the South Street Seaport to East 26th Street, and from First Avenue to the West Village. Quite literally, Manhattan is our campus! The Campus Transportation System provides shuttle service around the city with routes to the main classroom area. |

What is the staffing in the buildings?The Residence Halls are staffed with live-in Community Development Educators who have earned a Masters Degree and have residence life experience. In addition, a team of Resident Assistants (RAs) lives in each hall. RAs are upper-class and graduate students carefully selected for their leadership skills and concern for fellow students. Residence Hall Operations Managers and Graduate Housing Assistants supervise the daily building operations with the support of Residence Hall Receptionists, Engineers, Housekeepers and Public Safety Officers. |

What are the costs of living in NYU Housing?Rates for living at NYU will vary based on the style of your building, type of room, whether or not it is air-conditioned, as well as the selection of meal plan. A limited number of "low cost" options are available in some buildings. In traditional style halls, residents are required to have a full meal plan. Several different meal plan options are offered with varying price ranges. Rates will vary from year to year. |
