During the Summer 2008 semester, New York University will offer intensive instruction in Elementary and Intermediate Modern Standard Arabic. The classes will be taught by a native speaker and will cover speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Classes will be taught Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 1:00pm.

The textbook used for all courses is al-Kitaab, Parts One or Part Two, by Brustad and al-Batal. Elementary I assumes no prior knowledge of Arabic. Elementary II begins with Lesson 9 in al-Kitaab, Part One. Intermediate I begins with Lesson 17 in al-Kitaab, Part One. Intermediate II begins with Lesson 5 in al-Kitaab, Part Two.

Registered students are guaranteed NYU dormitory housing, but in order to receive your housing preference, the NYU Housing Office suggests you apply on or before the announced deadline.
