MA Students*** Is the International
Business/International Politics concentration a joint degree? No. The International Business/International Politics
concentration is not a joint degree. Upon completion of this concentration you
will receive a Master's Degree in Political Science. Will I be considered a
student of both the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and Stern Business
School? No. Though you are taking courses at Stern, you are a paying
student of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences only. For this reason, you will have limited
access to Stern's resources and services. Can this program be done
on a part-time basis? Only domestic students can
complete the program on a part-time basis. International students must maintain full time status while
attending NYU to remain eligible for a student visa. How do I register for
courses at the Stern School of Business? Students register for courses
at Stern through the Politics Department.
Prior to choosing courses, students must pick up a Stern
Cross-Registration Form from the Graduate Politics Office. Once completed, this form should be
returned to the Politics department. Students will be informed which courses
are available and have been approved and can then register for these courses
via ALBERT. What courses can I to take
at the Stern School of Business? All of your Stern courses should
be in International Business. Courses outside this field can be taken if they
fit into your specific area of study and are approved by your advisor. Please be aware that you must meet all
the prerequisites of any course you wish to register for. Examples of courses students
have taken in the past include: B65.2360.01 Global
Manager and Negotiator B01.1302.12
Managing Organizations What courses must I take
in the Department of Politics? Your are required to take all
GSAS courses in the Politics Department and they all must be in International
Relations, with the exception of the departmental stats course, which can
substitute for one of your IR courses.
Is there a limit to the
number of credits I can take at the Stern School of Business each semester? You are limited to 6 credits
per semester at the Stern School of Business. How many credits are the
courses at Stern? Credits for Stern courses
vary from one to three credits.
However, most International Relations/International Business students
take three-credit courses. What is the typical amount
of time it takes to complete the Master's Program? Due to Stern's limitation on
the number of credits a student can take each semester, the minimum time to
complete this degree is one year. What are the requirements
for a Master's degree? The requirements for a
Master's degree within this concentration is 31 credits; 15 at the Stern School
of Business, and 16 in the Department of Politics. Students must also fulfill
the language requirement and receive department approval of their Master's
project. Why is the International
Business/International Politics concentration only 31 credits? Due to the range in course
credits, students in this concentration actually take 9 courses or more, as
opposed to regular Master students who take only eight. Thus the credit
requirement was lowered from 32 to 31. The Office of the Associate Dean waives
the remaining credit. Can I transfer credits
from another institution? Students in this
concentration can only transfer one course towards their political science requirement. The course to be transferred must
receive approval from the department to count toward this degree. How much is tuition? Though you will take courses
at the Stern School of Business, you only pay tuition to the Graduate School of
Arts and Sciences. For tuition rates and fees please visit the New York

official documentation certifying that I took courses at the Stern School of
Business? Typically, an official
transcript would suffice, but if necessary the Department of Politics can
provide a letter verifying that you took courses at the Stern School of
