Welcome to my home page. My wife, Karen Lee Hackett, is a software program manager at Sun. My elder daughter, Rachel, doesn't believe in home pages. She graduated from Brown (magna cum laude said the proud father) and finished her M.Div at Union Theological Seminary in New York and is now working for UNICEF in South Sudan.
Grace Elizabeth was born December 16, 1996. She cleverly learned to smile at an early age! Now that she is a very active ten(!) year old, it is hard enough to keep up with her, let alone take any pictures. (Only her mom can keep up with her on rollerblades. And nothing can stop her on her bike, though she eagerly awaits a new one. None of us can keep up with her desire to be a punk rock star!) She is in the Xs group (what the rest of the world calls the fifth grade) at the City and Country School in Greenwich Village. She loves the school, and loves studying mediaeval history and being a journeyman sign maker.
We moved to Greenwich Village in Sept. 2003 and have been having a
wonderful time in the city (New York, New York, a helluva town ...).
Here is our view east view (we see all three
bridges, but this one just shows the Williamsburg Bridge) and north. Here is my next door neighbor's web cam which has the
same view as our bedroom window when his cat, Esteban, has not knocked
the webcam out of position. (The big building on the right is the
twin of our IM Pei 30 story "Silver Tower" (faculty dorms). The ugly building that
occupies the rest of the foreground is the other NYU faculty dorm,
"Washington Square Village.") But even with these the rest of the view is pretty
cool. Actually Silver Towers
doesn't look that bad and not everyone in the city has so much green
and their own Picasso Sylvette.
The best link to my current papers (and cv) is through my NYU home page.
