Louis Karchin

Mr. Karchin is a recipient of the Goddard Lieberson and Walter N. Hinrichsen Awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and recent commissions from the Koussevitzky, Barlow, and Fromm Foundations.  His music is recorded on New World, CRI and Albany labels, and is published by C.F. Peters Corporation.  His latest CD release, "Orpheus and other Vocal Works" (Albany) includes eight recent songs and song cycles, plus his Masque Orpheus, for baritone, chamber ensembles and dancers.  Mr. Karchin is also a conductor of the Chamber Players of the League-ISCM, and Co-director of the Washington Square Contemporary Music Society.
