I have been a member of the Department of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies from its inception in 1967 and presently hold appointments in the Departments of History and Religious Studies as well. My training at St. Louis University and Princeton focused on Classics, philosophy, and Islamics. My present research and teaching interest is the comparative study of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, particularly the lives and work of Jesus and Muhammad, and Muslim Spain. I also regularly offer Greek reading courses in the New Testament and the Church Fathers.
