Accommodations

Hotel accommodations can be prohibitively expensive. We realize that many people coming to NWAV may be interested in sharing hotel rooms with others in order to defray some of the costs. In order to try and facilitate this process, we have set up a Yahoo! Group called "NWAV 34 Accommodations".

Those interested can join this group. Once there, you will need to click on the Join This Group tab, and sign up for email announcements of group messages. As a group member, you can post and receive messages seeking accommodations sharing for NWAV 34.

We hope that this email group may facilitate people's ability to get in touch with one another to find affordable solutions to accommodation for NWAV 34.

Right in front of the hotel is an entrance to the 34th Street subway station on the A, C, E, lines, all of which go downtown to W. 4th St., the station for NYU. From the hotel to the NWAV venue is twenty minutes.

OTHER HOTELS

There are hundreds upon hundreds of hotels in New York. Below we list a small number of them, all of which we have visited. Many of the hotels that we list have indicated to us that the way to get cheap rooms for hotels for NWAV weekend is by using search engines such as Expedia.com and Travelocity.com or by booking online directly with the hotel.

Of these hotels, the Washington Square Hotel is adjacent to NYU, the Union Square Inn and Hotel 17 are fifteen-minute walks away. The other hotels are accessible by subway or bus and are within a twenty (by subway) to thirty (by bus) minute commute or a within a thirty minute walk.

The hotel's website quotes Entertainment Weekly as designating it 'the inn for Hollywood types and transient chic'. We're not so sure about that, but it is clean and it is convenient. Most of the rooms have shared baths rather than private ones.

Washington Square Hotel

103 Waverly Place, New York, New York 10011

For those who want to be very close to the conference venues, the Washington Square Hotel is the best option. It is somewhat more expensive than the other options that will be available, but it is maximally convenient. Because NWAV 34 overlaps with NYU Parents Weekend, all of these rooms will be reserved soon.
