The International Center for Advanced Studies (ICAS) initiated and sponsored intellectual projects that explored the formation of contemporary structures of political power, social life, and cultural expression from perspectives at once local and global. Under its auspices American and foreign scholars--senior and junior, academic and non-academic--formed an intellectual community that was international in its membership, comparative in its intellectual agenda, and global in perspective. These networks have been maintained by fellows. Each project sponsored an annual fellowship program that brought scholars to New York City and New York University to become part of an international scholarly community. Fellowships were also offered to NYU faculty and Ph.D. students.
Academic year 2006-2007 marked the tenth and final year for ICAS. We thank all of those who supported and participated in the Center's fellowship program and the remarkable series of Friday Seminars, conferences and other special activities.
