Special Collections:
Joseph Boggs Beale Collection, artist, 1881-1914, images created by Beale for C. W. Briggs Company, a national wholesaler of
illustrated slides. Extensive information on Beale available.
Stoddard's Collection. Carter's Collection, probably from the 1870s; gave shows up until 1900s.

Theater presents slides in shows as they were originally to be seen,
on-screen. Shows are in theaters,
museums, fairs, film festivals, schools.
Special Projects:
Book, Cinema Before Film: The Victorian Magic-Lantern and America's First Great Screen in progress.
Future plans:
Continue giving shows in theater.
Publish the book in two-three years, I hope!

James McClintock
Collection: about 250 slides of historical Arizona scenes.McClintock may
have taken these slides himself, and used them for promotion of Arizona at
events throughout the US. He was the first State
Historian.

About 450
McClintock and other assorted lantern slides were cleaned and scanned
four years ago and added to our photo database, which currently has 33,000
images in digital formats and full internet access.The slides were seldom used previously...

Special Projects:
In 1990, we undertook a massive weeding of the library's collection,
transferring copy stand slides to an educational institution, rehousing
the slides into new drawer units, and creating a finding aid. We are
currently involved in
digitizing the images.
Future Plans:
Following the Goodyear digitization project, we will evaluate other
portions of the collection and anticipate continuing efforts to
digitize and make them available.
