The following hotels have set aside blocks of rooms at special rates for PALA. The rates will generally be available for the nights of July 25, 26, 27, and 28, and for a few days before and after this. Contact the hotels for detailed information about the size, configuration, and occupancy restrictions of the available rooms. These are all small hotels, most with fewer than 100 rooms, and each has set aside about 25 rooms. Where the rates indicate "Plus Taxes," the taxes are approximately 15% of the room rate. Please read any special information in the "Notes" column.
IMPORTANT: Please book early! The rates quoted here will generally be good until June, in spite of the fact that the rates for July would normally go up during the spring. If you book very early, it may be worthwhile to check the hotel's website for its current rates, which may be even less than the conference rate. If so, feel free to book the lower rate without mentioning the conference. Response to the call for papers suggests that the conference will be larger than we planned for, so that those who book late may have fewer choices. Normal hotel rates are typically $200 or more per night if booked in the summer.
The distances here are approximate, though I have visited most of the hotels on foot, and believe the times are fairly accurate. If walking isn't for you, most of the hotels can be reached by bus or subway. Consult an MTA Manhattan bus map or subway map. I have also created a large, customized area bus map with the locations of the hotels and conference venues indicated. If you plan to take public transportation to and from the conference, you may want to consider an unlimited weekly pass. See the information on Greenwich Village for more information.
