Terry Harrison, Chris Stringer, and Christophe Soligo have organized a one-day conference to celebrate the important contributions Peter Andrews has made to the field of palaeoanthropology. The conference, which is open to the public, will be held on September 21, 2009, at University College London (Archaeology Lecture Theatre, Institute of Archaeology, Gordon Square, London WC1). It has been scheduled to precede the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology meetings in Bristol (September 23–26). The conference, entitled “Human and Primate Evolution in Context: A Celebration of Peter Andrews’ Contributions to Palaeoanthropology,” is organized around the three major themes that have been central to Peter’s research interests over the past forty years—primate evolution, palaeoecology and taphonomy, and human evolution.
The presentations, given by close colleagues and former students of Peter Andrews, will cover various aspects of these topics. The list of speakers includes Christophe Soligo, Eric Delson, Terry Harrison, Jay Kelley, Lawrence Martin, Mikael Fortelius, Kay Behrensmeyer, Kris Kovarovic, Yolanda Fernandez-Jalvo, Leslie Aiello, Bernard Wood, and Chris Stringer.
